Rock band Coldplay formed in 1997 and comprises vocalist/pianist Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion. Coldplay have sold over 30 million albums. Their hit single "Yellow" first brought them attention and their debut album, Parachutes. Parachutes was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Coldplay released their second album A Rush of Blood to the Head in August 2002. Coldplay's third album, X&Y, was released on 6 June 2005 in the UK. Coldplay are regulars on the festival circuit and have supported charity events such as Band Aid 20 and Live 8.
