The main characters in Final Fantasy VII are Cloud Strife, an unsociable mercenary, Aerith a flower merchant living in the slums of Tifa Lockhart, a martial artist and childhood friend of Cloud's; Barret Wallace, the impatient leader of the second incarnation of the anti-Shinra organization AVALANCHE; Red XIII, a wise lion-like creature; Yuffie Kisaragi, the young, bitter princess of Wutai, Cid Highwind, a pilot; Cait Sith, a fortune-telling cat and the immortal Vincent Valentine, a former member of Shinra's Turks unit. The world of Final Fantasy VII is named "Gaia".
