"The Godfather of Punk" Iggy Pop, one time drummer with high school band "The Iguanas", was the lead singer of The Stooges, a late 1960s/early 1970s (reformed in 2004), garage rock band who were influential in the development of the nascent heavy metal and punk rock. Iggy Pop has been credited for inventing the "stage dive" during his infamous controversial live performances. Iggy Pop collaborated with David Bowie during the 1970s and 1980s to produce The Idiot and Lust for Life. Among songs David Bowie & Iggy Pop wrote together were "China Girl", "Tonight", and "Sister Midnight". David Bowie also produced 1986's New Wave-influenced Blah Blah Blah which featured Iggy Pop's mainstream successful single "Real Wild Child".
