Social disorder. Explosions. Ridiculous weaponry. There's really no denying that Mad Max was one of Mel Gibson's career highlights, especially considering he was virtually unknown at the time. In the second film of the trilogy, Road Warrior, Max is an outcast from society, trying to carve his way in a world where oil is in very short supply. It's a lonely existence, but not a particularly difficult one. But when biker gangs and a village of settlers are thrown into the occasion, "just one many who can make a difference." Mad Max's post-apocalyptic styling popularised the genre amongst literary and film fans alike.
