SPAWN SERIES 23: MUTATIONS McFarlane Toys The 23rd series of Spawn action figures features five intricate new designs based on the thoughts and sketches of well-known Spawn comic book artist Greg Capullo: Spawn, Angel, Al Simmons, Malebolgia, and Kin. One pivotal event in the Hellspawn mythos is Spawn's slaying of his master, Malebolgia. But what if this event had gone differently? What if Malebolgia did not die? This premise is the inspiration for Spawn Series 23: Mutations, which reveals a twisted vision of the Spawn world that could have been.

This set of five figures consists of Spawn, Malebolgia, Warrior Lilith, Kin and Al Simmons.

Al Simmons In a dark twist, Malebolgia breathes undead life into the charred corpse of Al Simmons, creating a zombie soldier to stalk the mortal world above. This shambling beast is set to strike at all those who would aid the traitorous Hellspawn, collecting pieces of his victims as trophies to instill fear and goad Spawn deeper into demonic despair.

Kin For attempting to slay him, Malebolgia will strike at the only thing Spawn ever truly loved - Wanda. Malebolgia begins with an enemy from Spawn's past: Billy Kincaid. The dark lord then fuses Kincaid's body and will with that of another demon to guide and direct the blood lust of his 'Kin.' With new power, the reborn killer and his demon guide embark on their murderous quest.

Malebolgia Mortally wounded, the dying ruler of Hell makes a final desperate attempt to save his reign. Rushing to their master's aid, the Phlebiac Brothers fall prey to Malebolgia's wicked jaws. Consuming the foul flesh of the Phlebiacs to reconstruct his body, Malebolgia is restored in form and increased in power. What did not kill him only made him stronger.

Warrior Lilith With a void in the hierarchy of Heaven, the position of top Hellspawn hunter must now be filled by the will of the Seraphim. The title of Hunter Prime will go to the one who can slay the most troublesome of all Hellspawn -- the one formerly known as Al Simmons. Undaunted, the first heavenly creature - known as Warrior Lilith -- descends upon Earth to begin the hunt.

Spawn In order to fight the still-living leader of Hell, Malebolgia, Spawn must delve deep into his dark side. Calling forth the primal power to change his form -- the same power that allowed Clown to transform into Violator -- Spawn now mutates into a demonic alter-ego of his own. To fight the beast, Spawn must become a beast.
